The Bloc family: A vision turned reality

The last few weeks have been a time of new starts; new ways of working and new ways of living in response to the a rapidly changing business and home landscape created by coronavirus. It’s also a time of collaborations, partnerships and communities, as we all work together in a collective business sector response.

And that’s reflected within our own business too.

This week saw the birth of Bloc Creative as we reinforced the relationship we’ve developed with Derby-based Three Sixty Media, which joined forces with us in November 2019.

Since forming Bloc Digital with fellow Director Chris Hotham, we’ve had a vision to provide organisations across sectors with a full digital journey; harnessing state-of-the art technology and creative expertise to deliver marketing, operational and digital visualisation support to global clients and audiences. We have now fulfilled that vision.

2020 is our twentieth anniversary. We started as two technical illustrators with a vision to disrupt the design and product visualisation industry. Now Bloc Digital sits within a family of divisions which together, we believe, create an exciting new digital visualisation, interactive content and marketing studio… and a new vision to pursue.

Bloc Digital’s pioneering, creative and technology advanced ethos has inspired our growth. Constant innovation has seen us establish new animation and web development departments, IoT and Industry 4.0 solutions, and AR and VR capabilities. We have upscaled our specialist knowledge services, providing cutting-edge R&D services and strategic consultancy to companies – facilitating, shaping and informing their digital futures.

Bloc Creative brings highly skilled insight and passion in creating strong brands, managing print production and designing responsive websites into our family.

We also achieved our ambition of reaching new audiences in new ways by launching Bloc Media earlier this year. Focussing on public facing audiences in broadcasting, film, culture, heritage and public spaces, this division is facilitating the delivery of cutting-edge technology to a broader community, enabling as many people as possible to benefit from a creative ability to engage, entertain and inform.

Supporting the property and construction sector specifically, Bloc Arch Viz delivers digital capabilities to design and planning through CGIs, animations and augmented/virtual reality visualisations.

Our creative tech family now employs 50 people, doubling in size in the last two years and directly benefiting the local and regional economy. We proudly seek, attract, appoint and develop the top talent from within and outside of the region. We invest in new skill-sets through apprenticeships, graduate schemes, university partnerships and industry-specific direct hires to ensure fresh ideas and perspectives. We’re building a family for the future.

Launching our new Bloc Media division and rebranding Bloc Creative at a time of global change may not have been entirely part of the plan, but it has shown us that our growth, ambition and vision is relevant and, in its own way, timely. Particularly at the moment as businesses and communities face a rapid shift to the digital sphere, it’s has shown us that we can help, we can make a difference.

Together the Bloc family can offer more to more organisations and benefit more people, just as together as a business community we can build, strengthen and meet the challenges the next few months pose.

We are a family. We are the Bloc family.
